Mavericks Eighth in Latest NCAA Region Ranking

NCAA Region Rankings
The Mavericks were ranked eighth in the NCAA South Central Region poll released Wednesday. Nebraska-Omaha (21-9) will look to improve on that ranking with six games in the next four days.
The Mavs play a doubleheader at Upper Iowa Thursday at 2 p.m. and then at Fort Hays State Saturday at 1 p.m. Sunday they return home to make up a postponed doubleheader with Augustana (S.D.). UNO will host the Vikings at 2 p.m. at Claussen-Westgate Field.
Eight teams advance to the two NCAA South Central Region tournaments at the end of the regular season. The top two teams in the region two four-team tournaments. The winners of the MIAA, Lone Star Conference and Heartland Conference tournaments each receive an automatic bid and the remaining five seeds are filled by the top teams in the region.
The Mavericks have been to 20 straight NCAA tournaments. They won the 2001 national championship and advanced to the sub-regional championship game last year.
Midwestern State is No. 1 in the region. Emporia State, ranked third is the only other MIAA team ranked.
