2010 Daktronics All-South Central Region Team
Sophomore #Joe Holtmeyer# was named South Central Region Pitcher of the Year, as the 2010 Daktronics All-South Central Region team was announced today.
Holtmeyer was also a first team starting pitcher selection. The right-hander, who is 9-1 on the year, leads all of NCAA Baseball – Division I, II or III, with 143 strikeouts, 15.70 strikeouts per nine innings (minimum 40 IP) and is tops with 4.39 hits allowed per nine innings. In his last eight outings, Holtmeyer has been a strikeout machine, fanning 98 batters with double-digit K's in seven of those eight contests. He has tossed a no-hitter, four-straight complete games - with six total complete games, three one-hitters, one complete-game shut out and one shared shut out (with Brandon Dahl against Southwest Baptist on April 2) in that span. Holtmeyer was named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Pitcher of the Year on May 6. He is sporting a 2.63 ERA in 82 innings of work.
Senior outfielder #Tyler Lundy# was selected to the All-South Central Region first team as an outfielder. Lundy leads the team and the MIAA with a .445 batting average and 85 hits. The Minot, N.D., native is riding a 20 game hitting streak, the longest by a Maverick this season.
Senior second baseman #Andrew Hansen# earned All-South Central Region second team accolades. The Lakeville, Minn., product was an All-South Central Region first team selection in 2009. He is batting .348 on the year and is second on the squad with 17 doubles. Hansen has started all of UNO's 50 games this season at second base and has started 110-straight games for Nebraska-Omaha.
Central Missouri's Chance Tuttle was named the South Central Region's Player of the Year. He was also the MIAA's Player of the Year.
All first-team selections are now eligible for All-America honors
