Three Mavs Earn Regional Softball Honors

First and Second Team List
OMAHA, Neb. - Three members of the UNO softball team were selected for the 2010 Daktronics All-South Central Region Team today. Pitcher #Beth Haley# and pitcher/outfielder #Lindsey Slocum# were picked for the first team, and #Treightin Yates#, who plays second base, was chosen for the second team.
Haley led the Mavericks with a 1.93 ERA while posting a record of 21-4. She allowed 138 hits and 49 runs, 44 earned, while striking out 115 and walking 38. Opponents batted just .227 against her. She also pitched a team-high 20 complete games. The native of Highland, Ind. led the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association with 20 league wins had the second-best ERA in the MIAA. She also had a league-best seven shutouts.
Slocum posted a 1.95 ERA while earning a record of 21-3 in 31 appearances. She pitched in a team-high 172 innings, allowing 140 hits and 56 runs, 48 earned, while striking out a team-best 173 and walking just 29. Opponents batted .218 against her. In the field, Slocum led the team with 61 RBI and was second on the team with a .371 batting average. The Omaha native scored a team high 49 runs and finished second on the team with 73 hits and 12 home runs. She ranked third in the MIAA in ERA in league games at 2.07 and in wins at 18. She was sixth in the league in hits and second in runs batted in.
Yates led the Mavs with a .434 batting average. She had a team-best 89 hits and tied with Slocum for the team lead with 16 doubles. She also led the team with a .491 on-base percentage. The native of Bellevue, Neb. topped all MIAA batters in hits and was fourth in runs batted in.
The Mavericks completed the season with a record of 50-13 and earned a share of the MIAA's regular season title with a record of 18-2.
