AMARILLO, Texas – UNO senior #Erin Ommen# moved up three places following second-round action at the NCAA Division II Super Region 4 Championship on Monday at Tascosa Country Club. Ommen shot an eight-over-par 80 to move up into a tie for 23rd in the 49-player tournament.
Ommen, playing as an individual for the Mavericks, has posted a two-day score of 162, putting her in a tie with Tess Russell of Sonoma State. Ommen is bidding to return to the NCAA Championship for the third time in her career after being UNO's lone representative last year at the championship.
Ommen, starting on the tenth hole, parred the first four holes but closed the first nine with bogeys on four of the final five holes. After the turn, she bogeyed holes 2-4 before rallying to par four of the last five. She shot 40 on both the front and the back nine.
Tarleton State continues to lead the West Regional, opening up a 12-stroke lead over second-place California State Monterey Bay. Tarleton State shot the low round of the day as a team with a score of 302. Sonoma State and Angelo State are tied for third at 638.
Darcy Lake of Cal State Monterey Bay has the overall lead at 145, three strokes clear of Katie Sharp of Western Washington.
The final round of the West Regional will begin Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.
