May 3, 2010 | Baseball, General
After its series split with then top-ranked Central Missouri last weekend, the Nebraska-Omaha baseball team jumped back into two NCAA Division II national polls.
After being out of the poll for the last two weeks, the Mavericks find themselves in a five way tie for No. 30 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll released on Monday. UNO dropped out of the poll after being ranked No. 29.
The Mavericks take the No. 25 spot in the latest Ping!Baseball poll which also came out on Monday. UNO had been out of the poll for the last three weeks and were ranked No. 27 the last time it showed up in the poll.
UNO forced a split with UCM, winning both games on May 1 and dropping a pair on May 2. It was the first time all season the Mules did not win a series.
The Mavericks will travel to Kansas City, Mo., for the the 2010 MIAA Baseball Championship on Thursday, May 6 and will face No. 4 seed Fort Hays State at 7 p.m. at Community America Ballpark. The game can be heard live on Teamline with Yano Mangiameli calling the action. Depending on the outcome of that game, UNO will play again on Friday, May 6 at either 3 p.m. or 7 p.m.
