Mavs Open MIAA Tournament Against Truman

The 16th-ranked Mavericks will play two games in the MIAA postseason tournament Thursday at Blue Valley Sports Complex in Overland Park, Kan., as the No. 2 seed. They play their first round game at 6 p.m. against seventh-seeded Truman. After that, they'll either play a second round game or consolation first round game at 8 p.m.
The semifinal and the remainder of the consolation bracket games will be played on Friday and then the championship round will be Saturday starting at noon. The winner receives an automatic berth to the NCAA tournament and the field for that tournament will be announced Monday at 9 a.m. on NCAA.com.
The Mavericks wrapped up the regular season with a share of the MIAA title. They are 45-9 overall and 18-2 in the MIAA. Emporia State shared the trophy with UNO and earned the No. 1 seed after sweeping the Mavs this year in the regular season.
