OMAHA, Neb. – University of Nebraska at Omaha head women's basketball coach Patty Patton Shearer announced today that her team will play Nebraska on Friday, Nov. 26 at the Devaney Center in Lincoln. The game time is 11 a.m.
“This is a great opportunity for our players to play an outstanding program like Nebraska in an exciting environment,” said Patton Shearer. “Coach Yori has done a tremendous job building her program into one of the best in the country. We're looking forward to giving the Huskers our best game.”
Last year, Nebraska posted the best season in school history, finishing with a record of 32-2. The Huskers were 16-0 in the Big XII, winning their first regular season league title. They began the year with a school-record 30-game winning streak. The Huskers were upset by Kentucky, 76-67, in the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA tournament to conclude their season. Head coach Connie Yori was named the 2010 National Coach of the Year.
Patton Shearer returns seven letter winners from last year's team, a team that featured five freshmen who all played significant roles with the team. UNO opens its season on Nov. 12.
