Mavericks Begin Indoor Track Season at Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. - The UNO indoor track and field team kicked off the indoor season on Friday night at the Holiday Inn Invitational hosted by Nebraska. #Anja Puc# led the charge with a third-place finish in the mile.
Puc, who was running the event for the first time ever, clocked a time of 5:00.15. She trailed Katarina Zarudnaya, a UNO student who was running unattached and won the race with a time of 4:53.45; and Nebraska's Lara Crofford who was second at 4:58.78.
In other action from the track, #Kayla Fenske# took eighth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 20:18.23. In the 1,000 meters, #Nicole Behm# was 10th in a time of 3:15.80, just ahead of teammate #Megan Oddo# who was 12th at 3:21.48.
In the field, freshman #Kathie-Lee Laidley# finish seventh in the long jump with a leap of 17-10 3/4. #Sami Spenner# was ninth in the event at 17-3 1/2.
Day two of the meet begins Saturday at noon.
