Mavericks Hold Position in Weekly Hockey Polls

OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO hockey team is ranked 15th in both weekly Division I hockey polls released today. It marks their second week at 15 in the poll conducted by USA Today/USA Hockey while it represents a move up from 16th in last week's poll from the web site, USCHO.com.
The Mavericks also were unchanged in the latest power rankings from the web site InsideCollegeHockey.com, coming in at 15 again.
UNO is coming off a split of two games at North Dakota last weekend. The Mavs beat the Fighting Sioux, 8-4, on Friday night but lost the finale, 4-2.
Again this week, the WCHA is well represented in the polls. Six teams, including the Mavericks, are in the top 20 listed by USCHO.com. Denver (3), North Dakota (4), Minnesota Duluth (5), Wisconsin (8) and Colorado College (20) are the others. The USA Today poll lists just 15 teams.
Yale remains in the number one spot in both polls with a record of 17-2-0.
The Mavericks begin a six-game home stand this weekend when they host Alabama-Huntsville in a pair of non-conference games. Friday's contest begins at 7:37 p.m., and Saturday's game faces off at 7:07 p.m. Saturday's game can be seen live, statewide on NET-1.
