OMAHA, Neb. – The 2011-12 season promises to be the most-watched season of University of Nebraska Omaha hockey in history. The Mavericks announced the television schedule for their 15th season today. It includes seven confirmed games including two carried coast-to-coast on Versus.
“We have always looked for ways to expand the UNO hockey brand, and this year's television package allows us to do just that,” said Trev Alberts, UNO's Director of Athletics. “It is a good combination of national, regional and statewide coverage that we hope to build on in future seasons.”
The Mavericks will appear on Versus on Friday, Jan. 13 when they host defending national champion Minnesota Duluth. Their game at home against Denver on March 2 is also scheduled to air on Versus.
UNO's first televised game will be statewide on NET, Nebraska Public Television, on Saturday, Oct. 29 at Wisconsin. UNO's other NET games will be announced at later date.
