Bullock Signs Professional Contract With Moncton M

Former UNO men's basketball player Tyler Bullock has signed to play professionally with the Moncton Miracles of the National Basketball League of Canada.
Bullock, a native of Lincoln, Neb., signed a contract in September and will leave for Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada on Oct. 17. Training camp with the Miracles will begin on Oct. 18, and the NBL will open play on Oct. 24. Both the league and the Miracles franchise are brand new in the 2011-12 season.
“This is my first time leaving the country, and I can't think of a better reason to travel,” Bullock said. “I'm very excited to play. When you're a high school player, you dream of playing college basketball. As a college player, you dream of playing beyond that in the professional ranks. I couldn't ask for a better opportunity.”
Bullock was a two-year starter for UNO from 2009 to 2011. In two seasons as a Maverick, the Lincoln North Star product averaged 19.1 points, 3.9 assists, 1.5 steals and 3.7 rebounds per game. Bullock ranked among the top 50 nationally in scoring two straight years, and as a junior, he was in the top 40 in the nation for free throw shooting.
An All-America honorable mention selection, Bullock was a two-time all-region pick and earned first-team All-MIAA honors twice. In 2010, he led Nebraska Omaha to a conference championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance. Also a standout in the classroom, Bullock was named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll three times and was named to the 2010 NABC Honors Court. He graduated with his bachelor's degree in business in May 2011.
“My time at UNO helped to instill the will to win in me,” Bullock said. “No matter what the situation is – game, practice or drill – it's a competition. That's the will to win.
“I'm playing at a higher level now, and it's about competing and finding a way to win. Similarly, the coaching staff at UNO just finds ways to win. They do whatever it takes for the team to be successful, and as a player you respect that, and it makes you play harder for them. The success I had with my teammates at UNO has now set me up to pursue professional basketball.”
“We are proud of Tyler for his accomplishments as a player at UNO and are thrilled that he has the opportunity to play professionally,” Head Coach Derrin Hansen said. “He has been a leader for our team on and off the court for two years, and the entire UNO basketball family is excited to see the impact he will have on his team in Moncton.”
