Archibald Named WCHA Rookie of the Week

MADISON, Wis. – UNO right winger Josh Archibald has been named the Red Baron® WCHA Rookie of the Week for November 15. Archibald produced back-to-back multiple-point games to help the Mavericks earn three of four points in a conference road series at Bemidji State last weekend.
It is the first weekly award for the Mavericks this season.
A 5-10, 170-pound freshman from Brainerd, Minn., Archibald contributed two goals and two assists for four points to tie for the team lead in scoring in the series, earned a +5 plus/minus rating, and fired five shots on goal. Last Friday (Nov. 11), he scored UNO's first goal and then added an assist on the team's third goal in a 3-3 overtime tie against the host Beavers. The following night (Nov. 12), he notched an empty-net goal and assisted on another as the Mavericks gained a 5-1 win.
A draftee of the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins, Archibald has now scored points in four straight games and is tied for fourth in scoring overall among WCHA freshman with nine points (5g, 4a) in 12 games.
Archibald and the No. 19 Mavericks head west this weekend to face eleventh-ranked Denver on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18 and 19.
