U.S. Routs Denmark to Open World Juniors

EDMONTON, Alberta - Charlie Coyle had a hat trick and Jason Zucker had a goal and two assists to lead the 2012 U.S. National Junior Team to an 11-3 win over Denmark in the opening game of the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship on Monday night.
The team, coached by UNO head coach Dean Blais, will return to action on Wednesday when it plays Finland at 2:30 p.m. CT. The game will be carried live on the NHL Network.
UNO freshman forward Josh Archibald notched an assist during a six-goal second period for the U.S. The Americans outshot Denmark, 44-24 including an 18-6 margin in the second period.
"We still have plenty of work to do," said Blais. "But getting that first win under our belts was important, and there was a lot of good to build on."
Archibald is one of many collegians on the team. Coyle hails from Boston University while Zucker plays for Denver.
