Americans Bow To Finland, 4-1, at WJC

EDMONTON, Alberta - The U.S. National Junior Team, led by UNO head coach Dean Blais, lost its first game of the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship, 4-1 to Finland on Wednesday.
Trailing 1-0 entering the third period, Brandon Saad of the U.S. scored at the 19 second mark to tie the game. But the Fins answered with three goals, including two in a span of 29 seconds, to pull away.
"I was happy to see us come back early in the third period," said Blais. "But we just couldn't get enough going, and Finland's goalie played well."
The U.S. outshot Finland 24-9 through the first two periods and 38-24 for the game.
The Americans will get another day off before facing the Czech Republic on Friday, Dec. 30 at 2:30 p.m. CT. The game will be carried live on the NHL Network.
