Mavericks Land Three WCHA Scholar-Athlete Awards

MADISON, Wis.- Three UNO hockey players were named Western Collegiate Hockey Association Scholar-Athlete Award recipients today. Defensemen Eric Olimb and Nick Von Bokern and goaltender #Fredrik Bergman# were honored out of a group of 90 men's and women's players.
In order to be eligible, athletes must carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better and have at least one year of residency at their current institution.
The WCHA has recognized scholar athletes through the award since the 2005-06 season. In that time, there have been 414 honorees representing all 12 men's member and all eight women's member institutions.
This is the first time any of UNO's three honorees has been recognized for their outstanding work in the classroom.
The Mavericks return to action this weekend when they host Wisconsin on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 11 and 12. Tickets for Friday's "Sell Out Wisconsin" promotion and for Saturday's finale are on sale at the Qwest Center box office and at UNO's Sapp Fieldhouse.
