Sweep Gives Mavericks Boost in Hockey Polls

OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO hockey team moved up in both Division I college hockey polls released on Monday. The Mavericks now rank 12th in the latest USA Today/USA Hockey poll and 13th in the poll conducted by the web site USCHO.com.
Last week, the Mavericks were ranked 16th out of 20 in the USCHO.com poll and were not ranked but received votes in the USA Today poll which ranks only the top 15 teams.
The Mavericks are coming off a sweep of visiting Wisconsin last weekend. UNO won 4-1 and 4-3 and has now won four straight games. They moved into a tie for third place in the WCHA with a record of 14-6-2 in conference play and 18-10-2 overall.
The Mavericks also moved up to 13th in the latest power rankings compiled by the web site InsideCollegeHockey.com.
Again this week, the Mavericks and five other members of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association were ranked in the top 20. North Dakota (2), Denver (4), Minnesota Duluth (5), Wisconsin (12) and Colorado College (18) also made the list.
UNO hits the road this weekend to face Alaska Anchorage on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 18 and 19. Both games begin at 10:07 p.m. CT from Sullivan Arena in Anchorage. Live coverage is available on KVNO, 90.7 FM.
