Mavericks Make NCAA Regional Rankings

OMAHA, Neb. – The UNO men's basketball team has been included in the regional rankings released each week for the first time this season, the NCAA announced on Wednesday. The Mavericks, who have a 17-7 (14-6 MIAA) record, are ranked ninth in the South Central Region.
The top eight teams in each of the eight regions at the end of the regular season advance to the NCAA Tournament. UNO has a record of 15-7 against in-region opponents.
Fellow MIAA members Missouri Southern and Fort Hays State are first and second, respectively, in the region, while Washburn, which is tied for third in the league with UNO, is eighth.
Nebraska-Omaha faces MSSU tonight in the Mavs' final regular-season road game of the year before returning home for Senior Day against Pittsburg State on Saturday, Feb. 26. Tipoff against the league-leading Lions is set for 7:30 p.m. in Joplin, Mo.
