Mavs Adjust Schedule, Host Wayne State on Wednesda

OMAHA, Neb. - Expected inclement weather has forced the 24th-ranked UNO softball team to adjust its schedule for the second straight week. Originally, the Mavericks (23-5, 2-0) were scheduled to host Wayne State on Tuesday and Nebraska-Kearney on Wednesday this week at Claussen-Westgate Field.
With snow expected on Tuesday, UNO has moved its games with Wayne State to Wednesday afternoon and has canceled its contests with UNK. The Mavs will host Wayne State in a doubleheader at 2 p.m., on Wednesday at Claussen-Westgate Field.
UNO is 21-4 all-time against the Wildcats and is 12-0 at home. The Mavs swept a home doubleheader last year on April 20, 2-1, 8-1, but the Wildcats won a month before that on March 24, 3-0, in Wayne, Neb. Wayne State is 12-7 on the year and has won five in a row.
MISSOURI SOUTHERN, PITTSBURG STATE AWAIT UNO THIS WEEKEND
UNO will hit the road this weekend for a doubleheader at Missouri Southern at 3 p.m. on Friday and a doubleheader at Pittsburg State at 12 p.m. on Saturday. The Mavericks own a 12-5 all-time record against Missouri Southern and have won nine of the last 10. The Mavs have won the last three games behind a combined run total of 37-1. Missouri Southern's last win over UNO came on April 28, 2009, in a 3-2 game at Joplin, Mo. Missouri Southern is 13-11 this year and has not played a conference game yet.
UNO has also dominated the series with Pittsburg State recently. UNO leads all-time 10-2 and has won six in a row. The Gorillas' last win over the Mavs came on April 21, 2009, a 5-0 win in Pittsburg. The Gorillas are 7-14 overall and 1-1 in league play.
HALEY ON A TEAR
The MIAA's reigning pitcher of the year, #Beth Haley#, is on fire in her senior season with the Mavericks. Last week, Haley fired a no-hitter in a 3-0 win over Upper Iowa, then pitched a complete game in a 4-2 win over Fort Hays State, allowing zero unearned runs in that outing. The senior from Highland, Ind., is 9-3 on the season and has allowed just two unearned runs in her last seven starts combined. Haley possess a 0.98 ERA through 78.1 innings pitched. She has completed all 11 games started this season and has four shutouts.
LUTMER BRINGING THE LUMBER
UNO freshman #Amber Lutmer# is batting .342 on the year with a team-leading eight home runs and 27 RBIs. Lutmer's .699 slugging percentage also leads the team. The freshman from Millard West has stepped right into the Maverick lineup, starting 27 of 28 games. Last weekend at Fort Hays State, Lutmer had five of the Mavs' eight RBIs, as she nailed a three-run homer in the sixth inning of game one to give the Mavs a 4-2 lead that they would not relinquish.
