OMAHA, Neb. –UNO baseball will add its name to the list of teams making history at the new Werner Park this season when it hosts in-state rival Nebraska-Kearney on Wednesday, April 27 at 6 p.m. The event is presented by No Frills Supermarkets. Gates will open at 5 p.m.
“We're grateful to the Omaha Storm Chasers for inviting us to play in their terrific new ballpark,” said Bob Herold, UNO's head baseball coach. “It's a great venue for an exciting game against a rival and very good team in UNK.”
The two teams will play a nine-inning game at the brand new home of the Storm Chasers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. It will be the second meeting of the season between the two teams. UNO won, 5-0, in a game on April 5 at The Ball Park at Boys Town.
“Working to promote metro area baseball programs is very important to our mission at Werner Park,” said Martie Cordaro, vice president and general manager of the Storm Chasers. “With the upcoming move to Division I for UNO baseball, we are excited to host the game between the Mavericks and UNK.”
Tickets for the game are available through the Werner Park ticket office, by phone at (402) 738-5100 or on-line at omahastormchasers.com. Admission for adults is $8, and kids get in for $7.
