Mavericks Head to MIAA North Crossover in Missouri

MAVERICKS HEAD TO MIAA NORTH CROSSOVER IN MISSOURI
The 15th-ranked UNO softball team will spend this weekend at the MIAA North Crossover in Kirksville, Mo., the second of two conference crossover tournaments this season. The Mavs dropped two spots to 15th in the most recent NFCA Top 25 poll released on Wednesday.
The Mavs went 5-1 at the MIAA South Crossover in March in Springfield, Mo. None of the five games the Mavericks will play this weekend counts against the conference standings. All games will be played at North Park in Kirksville.
UNO opens play on Friday at 10 a.m., against Washburn, then faces Northwest Missouri State at 2 p.m. The Mavs and Bearcats played twice last week at Northwest Missouri State, with each team taking a 1-0 decision. On Saturday, the Mavericks battle Truman at 10 a.m. and Missouri Western at 2 p.m., both for the first time this year. The Mavs close tournament play on Sunday with an 11 a.m. game against Fort Hays State. UNO swept the Lady Tigers, 4-2, 5-3, back on March 25 in Hays, Kan.
NEARING THE STRETCH RUN
After this weekend's crossover, the Mavericks will have just six remaining series this season, all in a span of nine days from April 22-30. UNO returns to conference action on Friday, April 22 at Lincoln, then visits Truman the following day. On Tuesday, April 26, UNO travels to Sioux Falls for a non-conference doubleheader against Augustana, then heads immediately to Topeka, Kan., for a Wednesday make-up doubleheader with Washburn. The Mavs close out the regular season with home conference series against Emporia State (April 29) and Missouri Western (April 30).
AWARD-WINNING MAVS
The Mavs have been well represented this season in the weekly MIAA Player of the Week awards. Beth Haley, the reigning MIAA Pitcher of the Year, has been named MIAA Pitcher of the Week three times this year. Four Mavs have been named MIAA Hitter of the Week - Lindsey Slocum, Katelyn Hinton, Amber Lutmer and most recently Molly Feichtinger.
HALEY ON FIRE
Beth Haley is 15-2 in the circle with a 0.91 ERA for the Mavericks in her senior season. The Highland, Ind., native has pitched 16 complete games in 17 starts and has recorded nine shutouts. Haley pitched 40 straight innings without allowing an earned run in a six-game span from March 23 through April 5. The Mavs have won the last 13 games that Haley has started.
SLOCUM LOOKING TO BRING HOME THE RECORD
Lindsey Slocum's 147 career RBIs entering this weekend rank third all-time in school history. Slocum needs just seven RBIs to move into second place and just 12 to set the school record for career RBIs, currently held by Holly Voss at 158 (1994-97).
