NFCA Top 25 Poll
MAVERICKS BACK ON THE DIAMOND AFTER WEEK OFF
The 11th-ranked UNO softball team will head to Missouri this weekend for four games to end what will be a 12-day layoff with no games played. Last weekend's MIAA North Crossover was canceled because of poor weather and field conditions, so the Mavs will travel to Jefferson City, Mo., to take on Lincoln this Friday in their first game since April 9. The Mavs and Blue Tigers will begin the doubleheader at 12 p.m. UNO owns a 4-0 all-time record against the Blue Tigers, including a 9-0 win on March 20 at the MIAA South Crossover.
On Saturday, UNO heads to Kirksville, Mo., to battle Truman in a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. UNO and Truman have not met this year, but the Mavericks are 19-1 all-time against the Bulldogs. UNO has won nine straight meetings dating back to 2005.
MOVING ON UP
The Mavs moved up two spots to 11th in the latest NFCA Top 25 Poll released on Wednesday, despite not playing a game last week. It's the highest ranking for UNO since it began the season ranked 9th.
COMING DOWN THE HOME STRETCH
The Mavericks have just five remaining series this season, all in a span of nine days from April 22-30. UNO returns to conference action this weekend at Lincoln and at Truman. Next Wednesday, the Mavs head to Topeka, Kan., for a make-up doubleheader with Washburn. The Mavs close out the regular season with home conference series against Emporia State on Friday, April 29 and Missouri Western on Saturday, April 30. The Missouri Western series is Senior Day and Alumni Day at Claussen-Westgate Field.
AWARD-WINNING MAVS
The Mavs have been well represented this season in the weekly MIAA Player of the Week awards. Beth Haley, the reigning MIAA Pitcher of the Year, has been named MIAA Pitcher of the Week three times this year. Four Mavs have been named MIAA Hitter of the Week - Lindsey Slocum, Katelyn Hinton, Amber Lutmer and Molly Feichtinger.
HALEY ON FIRE
Beth Haley is 15-2 in the circle with a 0.91 ERA for the Mavericks in her senior season. The Highland, Ind., native has pitched 16 complete games in 17 starts and has recorded nine shutouts. Haley pitched 40 straight innings without allowing an earned run in a six-game span from March 23 through April 5. The Mavs have won the last 13 games that Haley has started.
SLOCUM CHASING THE RECORD
Lindsey Slocum's 147 career RBIs entering this weekend rank third all-time in school history. Slocum needs just seven RBIs to move into second place and just 12 to set the school record for career RBIs, currently held by Holly Voss at 158 (1994-97).
