Three Mavs Named to NFCA All-Region Team

NFCA All-Region Teams
OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO softball team placed three players on the 2011 Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Region Teams, as seniors Beth Haley and Lindsey Slocum earned first-team honors and junior catcher Lauren Larson made the second team.
Slocum is a three-time first-team selection after earning a spot as a utility player in both 2009 and 2010. Slocum hit .299 with eight home runs, 38 RBIs and a team-leading 14 doubles this season. She also pitched a 15-5 record with a 1.84 ERA. The Omaha Marian product had a team-best 9:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio and added three saves in the circle.
Haley appeared on the first team for the first time in her career after earning second-team honors last season. Haley, the two-time MIAA Pitcher of the Year, finished the year with a team-best 22-5 record and 1.06 ERA. The Highland, Ind., native recorded 12 shutouts and completed 24 of the 28 games she started.
Larson, a transfer from Creighton playing her first year at UNO, earned second-team honors after a terrific season at the plate and behind the plate. The starting catcher for every Maverick game, Larson was named MIAA Defensive Player of the Year for her strong arm, which she used to gun down eight runners attempting stolen bases. Larson hit .320 and led the Mavs with 62 hits. She also contributed 10 home runs and 41 RBIs.
Earlier this week, Slocum and Haley were named to the Daktronics All-South Central Region first team, while junior shortstop Molly Feichtinger was named to the second team.
