NCAA Tournament Field
The MIAA Tournament Champion UNO Maverick softball team earned the No. 3 seed in the South Central Region and will play at the four-team South Central 2 Regional hosted by West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas, this weekend, the NCAA announced in the Division II Softball Selection Show on Monday morning.
The Mavs will face fellow MIAA competitor and the No. 6 seed, Missouri Western (40-13), in their first game. The Griffons are 2-1 against the Mavericks this season, but UNO defeated them 6-5 on Saturday at the MIAA Tournament.
No. 2 seed West Texas A&M (44-15) will play No. 7 St. Mary's (35-19) in the other regional match-up. The four teams will battle in a double-elimination format for a Super Regional spot, where they would take on the winner of the South Central Regional that is being played in Wichita Falls, Texas. No. 1 seed Midwestern State (47-10) is hosting No. 8 seed Texas A&M International (32-27), while No. 4 seed Angelo State (42-12) will face No. 5 seed Emporia State (41-14).
The Mavs, who won the MIAA Conference Tournament on Sunday with a 2-1 win over Fort Hays State, are making their 22nd straight NCAA Tournament appearance and 24th overall, second-most of any Division II school.
TICKET INFORMATION
Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, May 10 at 8 a.m. and will be facilitated through the West Texas A&M University Ticket Office. The ticket office phone number is (806) 651-1414. Tickets are also available online at www.gobuffsgo.com. Prices are $7 for reserved seating, $5 for general admission seating, and $3 for youth, students with ID and senior citizens.
The WTAMU Ticket Office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday- Friday, May 10-13. Ticket sales at the WTAMU Softball complex will begin at 3:30 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
