Eureka Exhibition Game Canceled

OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO women's basketball team will play nine straight home games to begin the season, as part of its 27-game 2012-13 schedule. The Mavs were originally scheduled to open exhibition play on Nov. 3 against Eureka, but that game has been canceled due to a scheduling conflict for Eureka.
The schedule features a full 16-game Summit League slate, as the Mavericks embark upon their first full season in The Summit League. Omaha will play each Summit League member twice during the season. Seventeen of the 27 regular-season games, as well as one exhibition, will be played at the Sapp Fieldhouse, and nine opponents from last year's schedule appear again this year.
"The first thing our fans will notice is that we'll be at home much more this year," Head Coach Chance Lindley said. "Having 18 total games at home will be a big help for us this season, as well as give our fans an opportunity to see us play more. And we are also excited for the challenge of playing a Summit League regular-season schedule for the first time."
The Mavericks begin the season with an exhibition on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at home against Nebraska-Kearney at 7 p.m. UNO opens the regular season on Nov. 12 at home against North Carolina A&T at 7 p.m. The Mavs follow with home games against Louisiana, Northern Arizona, Saint Louis, Southwest Minnesota State, UT Arlington, Tulsa and Loyola Chicago.
UNO hits the road for the first time on Dec. 17 at Arkansas-Pine Bluff, before returning home to host College of St. Mary on Dec. 21 at Noon.
Following the Christmas break, the Mavericks will begin their first-ever Summit League schedule with a pair of road games. UNO visits Kansas City on Friday, Dec. 28, and then travels to South Dakota on Sunday, Dec. 30. UNO played at both schools last year as well.
The Mavs' first Summit League home games come on Thursday, Jan. 3 and Saturday, Jan. 5, when Oakland and Fort Wayne come to the Sapp Fieldhouse, respectively.
UNO will spend the next three games on the road, the longest stretch away from home all season. The Mavs face IUPUI on Jan. 10 and Western Illinois on Jan. 12, before stepping out of conference to play at Chicago State on Jan. 17.
Omaha returns home on Thursday, Jan. 24 to host North Dakota State at 7 p.m., while defending Summit League champion and NCAA Tournament qualifier South Dakota State visits the Sapp Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. The following weekend, the Mavs travel to play the two Eastern-most teams in The Summit League, at Fort Wayne (Jan. 31) and at Oakland (Feb. 2).
UNO hosts Western Illinois on Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. and IUPUI on Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. After a 12-day layoff, the Mavericks make their final road trip of the season, at South Dakota State on Feb. 21 and at North Dakota State on Feb. 23.
Omaha closes out the season with a pair of home games. On Thursday, Feb. 28, South Dakota visits for a 7 p.m. contest, while Kansas City finishes off the slate on Senior Day at the Sapp Fieldhouse on Saturday, March 2 at 2 p.m.
Although the Mavericks will appear in The Summit League standings, they cannot qualify for the conference tournament or postseason play until 2015-16.
