OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Karl Krieser shot par in the first round and was the Omaha men's golf team's low score after the first 36 holes of the Bill Ross Intercollegiate hosted by Kansas City.
The Mavericks are in 12th place in the 14-team tournament with a team score of 600, but they are just eight strokes from seventh-place Southern Illinois Edwardsville. Host Kansas City leads with a score of 572, four ahead of North Dakota State in second. Arkansas State is third at 585.
The final round is tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. at the Milburn Country Club.
Krieser shot 72 in round one and had 74 in the second for a 36-hole score of 146, good for a tie for 14th overall. Mitch Ryan was second for UNO and tied for 37th overall at 150 after rounds of 73 and 77. Michael Shukis is in third for the Mavs after going 75-77-152 to tie for 49th in the 78-player tournament.
Taylor Sidzyik is tied for 58th and is one stroke behind Shukis with scores of 76 and 77 for 153. Alex Overfelt rounded out the scoring for UNO with rounds of 75 and 79 for a score of 154, tied for 63rd.
