OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha hockey team has a busy week to open the 2012-13 season beginning tonight as it hosts an exhibition game against Lethbridge on Monday, Oct. 8 at 7:07 p.m. Tickets for the game are on sale through the opening face-off at the CenturyLink Center box office.
The Mavericks are 14-2-0 all-time against Canadian universities. This is the second time in the last four years that Omaha has played Lethbridge in the exhibition opener. The Mavs won, 2-1, back in 2009. The Pronghorns were 7-18-3 last season, finishing sixth in the Canada West Conference.
It's been a rough weekend for the Pronghorns who will be playing their third game in three nights tonight. They've already lost to Minnesota, 7-0, and to Minnesota State, 7-1.
The Mavericks will use all 26 players, so fans will get a chance to see all of the freshmen on this year's team. In addition, each of the three UNO goalies will play a period tonight.
Fans who can't make the game can listen live on 1180 The Zone 2 and online. Unlike last season, the online stream will be available outside the United States.
Fans also can stream the game live through America One.
After tonight's game, the Mavericks venture to Kansas City, Mo. for the Icebreaker Tournament at the Sprint Center. The Mavs begin with Army on Friday, Oct. 12 at 9 p.m.
