Faulkner Named WCHA Player of Week

MADISON, Wis. - For the second week in a row, a UNO hockey player has been named a player of the week in the WCHA. Senior goaltender John Faulkner was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. He follows Zahn Raubenheimer who earned Offensive Player of the Week honors last week.
Faulkner was in goal for both Omaha wins last weekend against #20 Minnesota Duluth, helping the Mavericks run their season-high win streak to four games. He has been in goal for each game in the streak.
On Saturday, Faulkner stopped 30 shots and allowed two goals, both on the power play, in a 3-2 win over the Bulldogs. The following afternoon, he made a season-high 31 saves and allowed three goals, one on the power play, in UNO's 6-3 win.
For the weekend, he finished with a 2.50 goals against average and a .924 save percentage. Faulkner is unbeaten this season with a record of 6-0-1 and ranks fourth in the WCHA with a 2.03 GAA and ranks seventh with a .915 save percentage.
He now has a career record of 44-34-9. His next win will put him in a tie with Jerad Kaufmann for second all-time in wins at UNO.
The Mavericks are off until Nov. 23 and 24 when they host Alabama-Huntsville in a non-conference series at the CenturyLink Center.
