The Omaha women's basketball team continues its eight-game home stretch with a pair of games at the Sapp Fieldhouse this weekend. On Friday, Louisiana makes the trek to Omaha for a 7 p.m. matchup. The Teams
The Mavs are 1-0 after a 58-44 win over North Carolina A&T on Monday. UNO has now won four straight season openers and seven straight home openers. Paige Frauendorfer is the Mavs' top scorer and rebounder at 15.0 points and 8.0 boards per game. Jamie Nash comes in averaging 11.0 points, 8.0 assists and 6.0 rebounds.
Louisiana enters Friday's game with a 2-0 record and an average margin of victory of 21.0 points. The Ragin' Cajuns defeated Southern on the road, 71-69, before crushing LSU-Shreveport at home, 83-42. Garry Brodhead is in his first year as head coach at ULL.
Northern Arizona enters a game on Friday at No. 15 Nebraska with an 0-2 record. The Lumberjacks lost 68-57 at New Mexico and 71-68 against Cal-State Bakersfield. Sue Darling is in her first year as head coach at NAU.
Series History
Louisiana owns a 1-0 series lead over UNO after knocking off the Mavs in their season finale, 62-60, in overtime last season on Feb. 20 in Lafayette. Brandi Schambough hit the game-winning 3-pointer with eight seconds left in overtime. Omaha led the entire game until 25 seconds remained in regulation.
UNO and Northern Arizona are meeting for the first time.
Last Time Out
The Mavs opened its season in grand fashion Monday, knocking off North Carolina A&T 58-44 at the Sapp Fieldhouse. The win was the first for the Mavs over a Division I team at the Sapp Fieldhouse since UNO began its transition to Division I last season. UNO also won its fourth straight season opener and seventh straight home opener. Paige Frauendorfer led the Mavericks with 15 points and eight rebounds. Jamie Nash contributed all around with 11 points, eight assists, six rebounds and five steals. Her eight assists moved her into fourth place in school history with 378 for her career. Ericka House scored 11 points in her official collegiate debut. House knocked down 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. The Mavs were stellar defensively, forcing the Aggies to commit 20 turnovers and shoot just 30.8 percent from the field (16-of-52). UNO forced A&T into three shot clock violations.

Louisiana is perfect so far on the season with a 2-0 record and average margin of victory of 21.0 points. The Ragin' Cajuns are led by Ashley Benjamin's 15.5 points per game and 76.5-percent field goal clip. Sylvana Okde chips in 15.0 points per game and has hit 7-of-17 from 3-point range. Four different Ragin' Cajuns average at least 6.5 rebounds per game.
Scouting Northern Arizona
Northern Arizona possesses one of the top scorers in the country in senior guard Amy Patton, who enters Friday's game at Nebraska scoring 31.0 points per game. Patton has scored nearly half of her team's points through two games. She also averages 5.5 rebounds and 5.0 steals per game. Patton had 33 in the season opener at New Mexico and 29 against CSU Bakersfield. Last year she averaged 14.6 ppg and was named to the All-Big Sky Second Team.
Nash, Frauendorfer Closing in on 1,000 Career Points
Seniors Jamie Nash and Paige Frauendorfer are both closing in on 1,000 career points. Nash ranks 27th in school history with 850 career points, needing just 150 to eclipse the 1,000-point barrier. Frauendorfer ranks 32nd with 773 career points, needing 227 to reach 1,000. Nash and Frauendorfer scored 349 and 354 points, respectively, in their junior seasons. Twenty-three Mavericks are members of the 1,000-point club.
Nash Climbing the School-Record Charts
In addition to chasing 1,000 career points, senior guard Jamie Nash has a few school records in her sights in her final season at UNO. The Verona, Mo., native has 276 career steals, placing her second in school history. She is just 55 steals behind Kriss Edwards, who made 331 steals from 1977-81. Nash has 378 career assists, ranking her fourth in school history. She is 96 assists behind all-time leader Jennifer Mitchell, who posted 474 from 1998-2002.
