Mavs Announce Early Signees

OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha women's basketball head coach Chance Lindley has signed four recruits to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period to join the Mavericks in the 2013-14 school year.
Mikaela Shaw, a 6-0 guard from Sandy Creek High School, is the first Nebraska player to sign an NLI under second-year head coach Chance Lindley. Shaw has put together a standout career at Sandy Creek that includes two state championships and a first-team all-state selection after averaging 18.4 points and 10.1 rebounds per game as a junior.
Madi Robson will join the Mavs from powerhouse Ankeny High School in Iowa. Robson, a 5-7 guard, is an athletic defender, amassing 51 steals in her junior season at Ankeny. She also led the Hawkettes with 95 assists last season and has twice been named her team's defensive MVP. Robson was the starting point guard for the 2011 AAU National Champion All Iowa Attack, which had eight players sign Division I scholarships.
Two players have signed on from the state of Illinois. Sami Pawlak, a 6-0 forward, was named one of the Chicago Sun-Times' Top 50 players prior to her senior season at Geneva High School. Pawlak was the all-area player of the year last season after averaging 11.5 points and 9.6 rebounds per game, helping the Vikings win the conference and region titles.
Finally, Victoria Trowbridge joins the Mavs from Naperville, Ill. Trowbridge, a 6-1 forward at Naperville Central High School, is a strong presence in the paint, having led her team in rebounding (7.7 per game) and field goal percentage (51.0 percent) as a junior. Trowbridge has been named her high school's most improved player each of the past three seasons.
Sami Pawlak, 6-0, Forward, Geneva, Ill. (Geneva HS)
An athletic and versatile forward capable of stepping out on the wing, was named to the Chicago Sun-Times Top 50 before her senior season at Geneva under coach Sarah Meadows...was named the Kane County Chronicle All-Area Player of the Year after her junior season in 2011-12 in which she averaged 11.5 points and 9.6 rebounds per game for the Upstate Eight Conference River Division champion Vikings...was a member of three publications' all-area first teams after helping Geneva to a 24-6 record and the regional championship...played AAU basketball for Illinois Hustle under coaches Derril Kipp and Reggie Dawson...also ran cross country in high school...was also recruited by Army, Colgate and Rhode Island.

A two-time defensive MVP at Ankeny High School, averaged 4.3 points and 2.5 rebounds per game as a junior, helping the traditional powerhouse Hawkettes to a 22-4 record and a second-place finish in the Class 4-A state tournament...led her team in assists (95) and was second in steals (51)...was the starting point guard for one of the top AAU programs in the country, All Iowa Attack, which featured seven teammates who signed DI scholarships at Oklahoma, Iowa State, Iowa, UNI, Illinois State, Brown and Western Illinois…under coach Dickson Jensen, All Iowa Attack won the 2011 AAU National Championship...was an honor roll and National Honor Society member...was a state champion on the dance team and also participated in cheerleading, track and show choir.

A versatile guard with the ability to play in the paint, averaged 18.4 points and 10.1 rebounds as a junior at Sandy Creek in 2011-12, helping the Cougars win the Class C-1 state championship…was a first-team all-state pick and honorary captain…also helped the Cougars win the C-2 state title in 2010…played AAU basketball for the Nebraska Twisterz under coach Randy Edwards…averaged 19.4 points per game in the summer of 2012 and scored 155 points in eight games at the Miss Basketball Showcase, fifth-most in the tournament's history, and led the Twisterz to the tournament title…was also an all-state volleyball player.

Helped Naperville Central to a 19-9 record as a junior in 2011-12 and was a strong rebounder with a team-high 7.7 boards per game and was a defensive presence in the paint…recorded a team-best 51.0-percent field goal percentage and was voted the team's most improved player while earning all-conference honors and all-area honorable mention…was also voted most improved player as a sophomore after helping the Redhawks win the region championship…played AAU basketball for the Illinois Rockets under coach Drew Ondik…also participated in swimming and track…was an honor roll student...was also recruited by Saint Louis, Cornell, Northern Kentucky, Eastern Illinois and Penn.
