The Omaha women's basketball team continues its eight-game home stretch by hosting the UT Arlington Mavericks on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Sapp Fieldhouse. The UNO Mavericks are coming off their longest break between games during their eight games at home to open the season - four days. The Teams
Omaha enters Friday's game with a 4-1 record. UNO split games against Saint Louis (L, 42-51) and Southwest Minnesota State (W, 63-37) last week at the Sapp Fieldhouse. The Mavericks are the top shooting team in The Summit League at 43.3 percent and are second from 3-point range at 38.4 percent. On the defensive end, UNO leads the conference in field goal percentage allowed (36.3 percent) and scoring defense (54.8 ppg).
UT Arlington brings all but one player back from last year's team that finished 7-21 overall. Now members of the WAC, UT Arlington is coming off its first win of the season over Houston Baptist, 77-71, after opening with four losses. The Mavs didn't face the easiest of schedules though, falling at George Washington, at Michigan State and at home to Oral Roberts and Memphis.

UNO leads the all-time series, 1-0. Omaha won the only meeting between the schools last Jan. 24, 2012, notching a 60-52 victory in Arlington. Jamie Nash had 17 points in the win and Paige Frauendorfer had 16 points and eight rebounds. The Mavs never trailed after the 3:33 mark in the first half. UNO led by as many as 13 midway through the second half. UT Arlington cut the lead to three with 5:58 remaining but could get no closer.
Last Time Out
The UNO women's basketball team cruised to a 63-37 win over Southwest Minnesota State on Sunday afternoon at the Sapp Fieldhouse. The Mavericks improved to 4-1 with a season-best defensive effort holding the Mustangs (1-4) to 37 points on 12-of-52 (23.1 percent) shooting. Casse Vaughn led the Mavs with 11 points and chipped in six rebounds. Cathleen Cox had a season-high 10 points off the bench on 4-of-6 shooting, and nine Mavs entered the scorebook with eight posting six points or more. SMSU scored just 10 points in the first half, the fewest the Mavs have allowed in a half since 2007.
