Mavs Sign Murry, Billingsley for 2013-14

OMAHA, Neb. -- Two student-athletes, Rylan Murry and Nick Billingsley, have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Omaha men's basketball team in 2013-14, head coach Derrin Hansen announced Friday.
Rylan Murry -- G, 6-8, 220, West Branch, Iowa (West Branch)
Murry has lettered four years for Coach Stephen Bender at West Branch High School. As a junior in 2011-12, he was a second-team all-state selection and averaged 23.7 points per game, helping WBHS to an 18-5 record. Murry is also a two-time all-conference pick and a two-time first-team all-district honoree. He recently became West Branch's all-time leading scorer and owns the school's single-game record after scoring 45 points in one game last season.
"Rylan is a versatile player who can score in multiple ways," Hansen said. "His ability to shoot from behind the arc and stretch the defense will help us in the future."
Murry is also a letterwinner in golf and plays AAU ball for coach Duez Henderson of Iowa Pump N' Run. He plans to major in mathematics at UNO.
"I was impressed with the academic options available at UNO, as well as the opportunities Omaha provides," Murry said. "I look forward to being part of the move to Division I, the enthusiasm of the coaches and the exciting direction this program is headed."
Nick Billingsley -- G/F, 6-4, 185, Omaha, Neb. (Omaha Central)
Billingsley began his high school career at Omaha North before transferring to Omaha Central, where he plays for coach Eric Behrens in one of the top high school programs in the state. At 6-4 and 185 pounds, he plays both the guard and forward positions.
"We are excited about what Nick will bring to our program," Hansen said. "His size, strength and athletic ability will help us on the wing, and his energy will be a great attribute for the team."
