OMAHA, Neb. – Senior outfielder Mark Waldron has been named Independent Baseball Player of the Week, College Sports Madness announced Tuesday.
Waldron batted .357 over six games at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational last week, driving in a team-leading eight runs while scoring nine times himself. The Creighton Prep product also delivered four doubles and drew three walks and helped the Mavericks to a four-game win streak over the course of the tournament.
Against Chicago State, Waldron finished 4-for-5 at the plate with two doubles, scoring three times while driving in another. In a 13-1 win over Bucknell, he went 3-for-5 with three runs and three RBI.
For the year, Waldron is batting .286 and has started all 22 games of his senior campaign.
