Three members of the UNO women's basketball team received College Sports Madness All-Independent honors in its postseason awards released on Tuesday.
Paige Frauendorfer was named to the College Sports Madness All-Independent First Team; Jamie Nash made the All-Independent Second Team, and Cathleen Cox was named the Freshman of the Year among independent schools.
Frauendorfer led the Mavs in scoring and rebounding with 13.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. Nash was second on the team in scoring with 12.9 points per game and led the team in assists with 6.1 per game. Nash also grabbed 4.1 steals per game to rank third in the nation. Both Frauendorfer and Nash earned CSM Independent Player of the Week honors during the season.
Cox averaged 6.9 points and 2.7 rebounds per game to earn Freshman of the Year. She scored in double figures eight times and had 20-plus points on two occasions.
Seattle's Kacie Sowell was named the College Sports Madness Player of the Year, and Seattle's coach Joan Bonvicini was named Coach of the Year.
The Mavericks, who finished 15-12 in their first year of reclassifying to Division I, will begin play in The Summit League next season.
