Former NBA All-Star Allan Houston Visits UNO Campu

OMAHA, Neb. – The UNO men's basketball team took advantage of a unique opportunity last weekend, as players and coaches met former NBA standout Allan Houston during his youth clinic at Sapp Fieldhouse.
Houston was in Omaha to deliver a keynote address for another event on the UNO campus, C4K on Display, organized by the C4K (College for Kids) organization at Mammel Hall. Omaha-area high school students participated in an educational competition in conjunction with Houston's speech. Activities then moved to Sapp Fieldhouse, where 100 local youth were part of a clinic conducted by Houston.
“This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for our staff and players at UNO,” Hansen said. “We were able to hear how Allan Houston made himself into a player through hard work and diligence. He has taken his responsibilities seriously to handle his business on and off the court, and that is reflected in all of his career accomplishments. That is a positive message to hear for youth and college athletes alike, and we were grateful for the chance to have Allan here at UNO.”
Houston's NBA career spanned 12 years with the Detroit Pistons (1993-96) and the New York Knicks (1996-2005), and he was a two-time NBA All-Star. He was also selected to the U.S. national team for the 2000 Olympic Games, helping Team USA to a gold medal. Houston currently serves as the assistant general manager for the New York Knicks.
