Maverick Baseball Summer League Update

Though the 2012 season is in the books for the UNO baseball team, the Mavericks have joined teams for collegiate summer leagues near and far to continue playing. A handful of UNO players are competing locally in the Omaha area, while others have traveled to different regions, and one is playing in Canada. Keep up with how Nebraska Omaha is being represented this summer with the mid-season update below:
JOSH BULLOCK
Waynesboro Generals – Waynesboro, Va. (Valley Baseball League)
Bullock is 2-0 with four saves and a 2.19 ERA over 10 relief appearances. A native of Elkhorn, Neb., he has totaled 12.1 innings of work, striking out 16 batters while allowing just three walks.
ANTHONY FALCONE
Strike Zone Omaha – Omaha, Neb. (All-American Upper Deck League)
Falcone has a record of 2-0 over 10.0 innings of work, allowing one run with a 0.90 ERA. A Millard West product, he has nine strikeouts and three walks this summer.
RYAN KEELE
Denver Cougars – Denver, Colo. (Rocky Mountain Baseball League)
Keele has posted a .328 batting average with a team-leading five home runs over the summer. The Bellevue, Neb., native also boasts 19 RBI, 15 runs scored, four doubles and a triple.
DEREK LANDIS
Omaha Diamond Spirit – Omaha, Neb. (MINK League)
Landis has made two appearances on the mound with a 0-0 record and a 1.80 ERA. The Ralston, Neb., native has compiled 5.0 innings of work, allowing just one run and four hits with five strikeouts.
CONNOR MCCRITE
Topeka Golden Giants -- Topeka, Kan. (Walter Johnson League)
McCrite is batting .368 with eight doubles and a team-leading three triples. The Topeka native also has 24 RBI and 23 runs scored to his credit, and he was selected as a Walter Johnson League All-Star.
ALEX MORTENSEN
Swift Current Indians – Swift Current, Saskatchewan (Western Major Baseball League)
Mortensen is hitting .227 with 13 runs scored, six RBI, three doubles and a home run. The Millard North product, who will be a sophomore this fall, has played in 18 games so far.
CALEB PALENSKY
Waynesboro Generals – Waynesboro, Va. (Valley Baseball League)
Palensky is batting .411 for the season, which ranks fourth in the Valley Baseball League, with 16 runs scored, 17 RBI, seven doubles and a pair of triples. A product of Papillion-LaVista South, he has been named VBL South Division Player of the Week twice and was selected as a VBL All-Star.
MATT TEW
Omaha Diamond Spirit – Omaha, Neb. (MINK League)
Tew has compiled a record of 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA over five appearances with three starts. The Bellevue, Neb., native has thrown 20.0 innings with 11 strikeouts and a shutout.
ZACH WILLIAMSEN
Strike Zone Omaha – Omaha, Neb. (All-American Upper Deck League)
Williamsen has tossed 5.0 innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs. He has five strikeouts to his credit and has issued no walks.
