LAKE ELMO, Minn. - The Omaha women's golf team got another strong round from one of its newcomers to earn third place at the Concordia Invitational on Monday. Sophie Peters fired her second straight 77 to lead the Mavericks in scoring.
UNO finished with a team score of 641. Augustana won the 36-hole event with a score of 620, edging runner-up Grand Valley State by four.
Peters, a sophomore transfer from Morningside, finished with a two-day total of 154 to finish in a tie for fourth overall. Britany Seda and Brooke Thilges both finished in a tie for second for UNO and in a tie for 16th overall. Seda fired an 82 in round two while Thilges carded an 80.
Elizabeth Havekost was fourth for the Mavs at 164 following a round of 83 on Monday. She finished in a tie for 20th overall. Melyssa Doerr completed the scoring with a 90 on Tuesday for a two-day total of 171.
The Mavericks return to action on Sept. 24-25 at the SIUE Intercollegiate hosted by Southern Illinois Edwardsville.
