The Omaha women's basketball team returns to Omaha this week to open up the home portion of its Summit League schedule. On Thursday, the Mavs play their first conference home game against Oakland at 7 p.m. at the Sapp Fieldhouse. Then on Saturday, UNO plays host to Fort Wayne at 2 p.m. at the Sapp Fieldhouse. The Teams
Omaha (9-3, 1-1) is coming off a split on the road in its first two Summit League games. The Mavs knocked off Kansas City on the road, 61-44, last Friday before narrowly falling at South Dakota on Sunday, 62-57. The Mavs enter the weekend with the top overall record in The Summit League.
Oakland (7-7, 1-1) also earned a split in its first Summit League weekend, but unlike the Mavs, it came at home. The Golden Grizzlies dropped an 81-73 game to Western Illinois on Friday, Dec. 28, but rebounded with a 68-59 win over IUPUI on Sunday, Dec. 30. Oakland is 1-3 in four road games this season.
Fort Wayne (5-9, 1-1) will be playing its only game of the week against Omaha. The Mastodons last played on Sunday, Dec. 30, earning a dominating 80-49 win over Western Illinois at home. Two days prior, Fort Wayne lost its conference opener at home to IUPUI, 79-74. Fort Wayne is 1-4 in five road games this season.

VERMILLION, S.D. - The Mavericks fell to South Dakota, 62-57, at the DakotaDome on Sunday. The loss was the first for the Mavericks (9-3, 1-1) in three road games this season. Carolyn Blair-Mobley led the Mavericks with 17 points, and she chipped in eight rebounds.

• Senior guard Paige Frauendorfer leads the Mavs in scoring (13.0 ppg) and rebounding (9.2 rpg). Her 9.2 boards per game lead The Summit League and she is the conference leader in both offensive and defensive rebounding.
• Senior point guard Jamie Nash runs the Maverick offense with 10.3 ppg, 7.4 apg and 3.7 spg. She ranks fifth nationally in assists per game and 14th in steals per game and leads The Summit League in both categories.
• Senior transfer Carolyn Blair-Mobley adds 12.0 ppg and 7.2 rpg. Over her last three games, Blair-Mobley is averaging 19.7 ppg and 9.3 rpg, and she is tied for the Summit League lead in 3-point field goal percentage (47.9 percent).
• Junior forward Casse Vaughn leads The Summit League with a 60.5-percent field goal percentage. She scored a career-high 28 points in the win over College of Saint Mary on Dec. 21.
• Taijhe Kelly ranks second in The Summit League with 1.8 blocked shots per game.
• The Mavericks are the top shooting team in The Summit League at 42.5 percent and are also first from 3-point range at 36.6 percent. UNO is second in the league in rebounding with 38.8 boards per game and in assists with 14.3 per game.
• On the defensive end, the Mavs lead the conference in field goal percentage allowed (36.0 percent) and scoring defense (55.6 ppg).
Scouting Oakland
• Oakland has been playing this season without senior forward Bethany Watterworth, who was The Summit League Preseason Player of the Year. Watterworth suffered an undisclosed injury during the offseason and is out for an unspecified length of time. Freshman forward Olivia Nash leads the team with 11.8 ppg and 10.1 rpg, but she has not played since Dec. 8 because of an injury. Elena Popkey adds 11.4 ppg. The Golden Grizzlies are second in The Summit League in 3-point percentage (35.0).
Scouting Fort Wayne
• Fort Wayne boasts The Summit League's top scorer in Amanda Hyde, who is raining in 20.1 ppg this season. Hyde scored 30 and 25 in her first two Summit League games last week to earn the latest Summit League Player of the Week honors, her second award this season. She notched 43 points in a Nov. 29 win at Southern Illinois. The Mastodons are third in The Summit League in 3-point percentage (33.5) and are first in free throw percentage (78.4).

• When the Mavs score at least 65 points under head coach Chance Lindley, they are 18-0.
• UNO is 20-1 when leading at halftime under Lindley with a perfect 6-0 mark this season.
• Through 36 games in Chance Lindley's tenure, no opponent has shot 50.0 percent or better from the field. In the season prior to Lindley taking over, UNO allowed five opponents to eclipse the 50.0-percent mark from the floor. The closest an opponent has come is South Dakota's 46.4 percent (26-of-56) from the floor in the Mavs' last time out.
• Ericka House's seven 3-pointers in the 61-44 win over Kansas City on Dec. 28 tied for the second-most triples made in a single game in UNO history. The school record is eight, set by Amanda Woodring on Dec. 7, 2011.
• The Mavs' 11 3-pointers made against Kansas City marked a season high. The last time the Mavs reached double figures in 3-pointers made was 10 exactly one year earlier at Tulsa on Dec. 28, 2011.
Nash, Frauendorfer Closing in on 1,000 Career Points
Seniors Jamie Nash and Paige Frauendorfer are both closing in on 1,000 career points. Nash ranks 24th in school history with 963 career points, while Frauendorfer ranks 27th with 914 career points. Twenty-three Mavericks are members of the 1,000-point club.
Nash Climbing the School-Record Charts
In addition to chasing 1,000 career points, senior guard Jamie Nash has a few school records in her sights in her final season at UNO. The Verona, Mo., native has 315 career steals, placing her second in school history. Kriss Edwards (1977-81) holds the school record of 331 steals. Nash also has 459 career assists, ranking her third in school history. She is one assist away from tying Kriss Edwards (460; 1977-81) for second place. Jennifer Mitchell (1998-2002) holds the school record of 474 assists.
Kelly Joins Group of School's Top Shot Blockers
Sophomore center Taijhe Kelly has already established herself as one of the top shot blockers to ever put on a UNO jersey. Kelly swatted 43 shots as a freshman, which ranked as the seventh-highest single-season total in school history, and she has blocked 22 shots this season, giving her 65 career blocks to rank seventh in school history. Mary Henke Anderson is the school-record holder with 291 career blocks, an average of 72.8 per season.
