USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll
OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha hockey team returns to action following a bye week with games at Bemidji State on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 25 and 26. The Mavericks will carry rankings of 13 and 14 in the latest college hockey polls into their second meeting of the season with the Beavers.
In spite of the week off, the Mavericks held steady at 13 in the poll from website USCHO.com while they dropped one spot to 14th in the poll from USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine.
Minnesota was a nearly-unanimous pick for first in both polls, earning 31 of 34 first-place votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll and 48 of 50 first-place votes in the USCHO.com poll. Quinnipiac, Boston College, New Hampshire and North Dakota rounded out the top five in order in both polls.
The WCHA also placed Denver (10), Minnesota State (14), St. Cloud State (16) and Wisconsin (20) in the USCHO.com top 20 poll while Denver (11) and St. Cloud State (15) also made the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine top 15 ranking.
The Mavericks are playing their third and four consecutive road games when they visit Bemidji State this weekend. The two teams opened the WCHA schedule back on Oct. 26 and 27, skating to a 3-3 tie in the opener before the Beavers prevailed 3-2 the following night.
Following the trip to Bemidji, the Mavs return home to host Michigan Tech on Feb. 1 and 2.
