The Omaha women's basketball team returns home to host Summit League foes North Dakota State and South Dakota State this week. On Thursday, the Mavs and Bison meet at 7 p.m. at the Sapp Fieldhouse. Then on Saturday, UNO hosts the Jackrabbits, who are leading the Summit League, at 2 p.m. at the Sapp Fieldhouse. NDSU and SDSU represent the final two Summit League teams that the Mavericks have not played yet this season. After this weekend, UNO has eight conference games remaining, four at home and four on the road. A live webcast (subscription required) and statistics will be available at OMavs.com for both games.
The Teams
Omaha (13-5, 3-3) earned a non-conference road sweep last week. The Mavs eased past Chicago State, 62-47, last Thursday before blowing out Indiana Dabney on Saturday, 83-39. Those were the final non-conference games of the season for the Mavs.
North Dakota State enters Thursday's game with a 7-12 overall record and 3-4 mark in Summit League play. The Bison were picked to finish fourth in the conference in the preseason poll but started out 1-3 in league play before winning two of their last three. NDSU's last three conference games have been decided by a combined total of six points: They won at Oakland by one, won at home over IUPUI by three, and fell at home to Western Illinois by two.
Series History
UNO has a long history with both NDSU, thanks to their days in the old North Central Conference. The Bison lead the all-time series with the Mavericks, 41-9. North Dakota State owns a 20-4 record in games played at the Sapp Fieldhouse. The last meeting between the teams came on Feb. 21, 2004, with NDSU winning 94-69 at the Sapp Fieldhouse. UNO has not beaten NDSU since Jan. 26, 2002, 77-76 at the Sapp Fieldhouse.
Last Time Out
CHICAGO, Ill. - The Omaha women's basketball team took care of business in its final non-conference game, blowing out Indiana Dabney, 83-39, on Saturday at the JML Abundant Life Community Center. The Mavericks improved to 13-5 with their second win in three days in Chicago. UNO also defeated Chicago State last Thursday, 62-47. Paige Frauendorfer led UNO with 16 points and is now just three away from reaching 1,000 career points. Jamie Nash had 12 points and 10 assists, and Ericka House and Carly Cator each had nine points. Cator's nine were a career high. Freshman Kate Bayes and sophomore Myhiah Dotzler also both set career highs, each with seven points. The Mavs bolted out to a 13-0 lead and led 38-20 at halftime before outscoring Indiana Dabney 45-19 in the second half.

The Mavs host South Dakota State on Saturday at 2 p.m., then travel to Fort Wayne next Thursday for a 6 p.m. (CT) game and swing by Oakland for a 1 p.m. (CT) game next Saturday.

• Senior guard Paige Frauendorfer leads the Mavs in scoring (13.3 ppg) and rebounding (8.7 rpg). Her 8.7 boards per game are first in The Summit League, and she is the conference leader in offensive rebounding with 2.9 per game. Frauendorfer has 997 career points and needs just three points to become the 25th member of the 1,000-point club at UNO. She ranks 10th in career rebounds with 615 and is one away from moving into a tie for ninth.
• Senior point guard Jamie Nash runs the Maverick offense with 9.8 ppg, 7.1 apg and 3.4 spg. She ranks ninth nationally in assists per game and 15th in steals per game and leads The Summit League in both categories. Nash is a career 1,000-point scorer with 1,015 heading into Thursday's game. She broke the barrier in the Jan. 17 win at Chicago State.
• Senior transfer Carolyn Blair-Mobley adds 12.0 ppg and 7.1 rpg. In conference play, Blair-Mobley is leading the team with 14.2 ppg to go with 7.5 rpg.
• Junior forward Casse Vaughn leads The Summit League with a 57.9-percent field goal percentage (55-of-95).
• Taijhe Kelly is tied for first in The Summit League with 1.8 blocked shots per game.
• The Mavericks are the top shooting team in The Summit League at 41.7 percent.
• On the defensive end, the Mavs lead the conference in field goal percentage allowed (35.7 percent) and scoring defense (54.2 ppg).
• While the Mavericks were 15-12 last season in their first year in Division I, their record was only 2-10 against Division I opponents. This year, Omaha is off to a 10-5 start against Division I teams.

• The Bison are led by Katie Birkel's 13.2 points per game. The Lincoln, Neb., native also leads the team with 2.9 assists per game.
• Dani DeGagne adds 12.3 ppg to go with 6.6 rebounds per game. Janae Burich chips in 8.5 ppg and 7.3 rpg.
• The Bison lead The Summit League in fewest turnovers per game with 14.2. That number dips to 12.3 turnovers per game in conference games only. NDSU allows 67.8 points per game to rank last in The Summit League in scoring defense.

• When the Mavs score at least 65 points under head coach Chance Lindley, they are 19-0.

Senior point guard Jamie Nash scored 10 points to eclipse 1,000 for her career in a Jan. 17 win at Chicago State. Nash became the 24th Maverick to reach 1,000 career points with a 3-pointer with 6:37 left in the game. Fellow senior guard Paige Frauendorfer enters Thursday's game with North Dakota State with 997 career points, needing just three points to reach the 1,000-point mark.
Nash Becomes Career Assists and Steals Leader
Senior point guard Jamie Nash is the school-record holder for career assists (498) and career steals (333). She became the all-time career assists leader at UNO with seven assists against Fort Wayne in a 60-50 win over the Mastodons at the Sapp Fieldhouse on Jan. 5. Her seven assists propelled her to 475 for her career, one more than the previous record set by Jennifer Mitchell from 1998-2002. Nash broke the steals record in a Jan. 17 win at Chicago State with four steals to reach 332 and pass Kriss Edwards, who nabbed 331 steals from 1977-81.
Kelly Joins Group of School's Top Shot Blockers
Sophomore center Taijhe Kelly has already established herself as one of the top shot blockers to ever put on a UNO jersey. Kelly swatted 43 shots as a freshman, which ranked as the seventh-highest single-season total in school history, and she has blocked 32 shots this season, giving her 75 career blocks to rank tied for sixth in school history. Mary Henke Anderson is the school-record holder with 291 career blocks, an average of 72.8 per season. From Nov. 18 to Jan. 3 this season, Kelly blocked at least one shot in 11 straight games.
