Mavs Gain Ground in Weekly Hockey Polls

USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll
OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO hockey team, coming off a sweep of visiting Colorado College last weekend, moved up in both weekly college hockey polls.
The Mavericks are ranked 13th in the polls put out by website USCHO.com and by USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine. The ranking represents a move of three spots in the USCHO.com poll and a jump of two spots in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.
The top five of both polls are nearly identical. USCHO.com's top 20 poll has Minnesota first followed by Boston College, Notre Dame, New Hamshire and Quinnipiac. The USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll has the same five teams but has Notre Dame second and Boston College third.
In addition to the Mavericks and Minnesota, other WCHA teams appearing in the USA Today/USA Magazine poll include North Dakota (7), Denver (9) and Minnesota State (11). USCHO.com poll has those same teams in those spots plus St. Cloud State at number 18.
The Mavericks are 13-8-1 overall and 9-4-1 in the WCHA, good for first place. They travel to Denver for games on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 11 and 12. Friday's game begins at 9:07 p.m. CT and can be seen live on NBC Sports Network. Saturday's game will start at 8:07 p.m. CT and can be seen on Root Sports.
