OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha athletic department and Nelligan Sports Marketing announced Thursday that 11 UNO women's basketball home games will be broadcast live on KZOT 1180 Zone 2 this season.
Jon Green will serve as the voice of the Mavericks this season. Green has broadcast numerous Maverick webcast events in recent years, and last year he was the play-by-play voice for all women's basketball webcasts.
"I'm very excited to officially be the voice of the Maverick women's basketball team this season on KZOT 1180 Zone 2," Green said. "It's tremendous for the women's basketball program to not only have webcasts and streaming audio available online, but to now be heard on 1180 Zone 2 as well. I'm excited to get things going this Saturday."
The Mavericks begin the season on Saturday with an exhibition at 2 p.m. against Lincoln (Mo.) at the Sapp Fieldhouse. Saturday's game can be heard live on 1180 AM or via the live stream link. Coverage begins with the pre-game show at 1:30 p.m. Fans can also sign up to watch the webcast (audio included) here. Webcasts will be provided for all 15 Maverick home games. Visit the UNO women's basketball schedule page to find the games that will be broadcast live on KZOT 1180 Zone 2. The four home games that are not set for radio broadcast will still be available for streaming at OMavs.com.
“This is a strong partnership with NRG, and it will give our fans unprecedented access to UNO basketball broadcasts,” general manager John Skolaski said. “Jon Green's passion for UNO athletics is unparalleled. He has proven himself to be a fantastic professional covering the women's basketball team last season and we're excited to get him and the women's basketball team a larger audience this season."
