Rogers Leads Mavericks at Rim Rock Classic

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kristin Rogers ran her second straight personal best for 6K to lead the Omaha cross country team to fifth place at the Rim Rock Classic at Kansas on Saturday.

The Mavericks finished with 145 points in the scoring for the six Division I teams. Michigan won the event with 17 points followed by Kansas at 57. Kansas State was third with 65 points followed by New Mexico State (113), the Mavericks and Kansas City (164).

Rogers ran a time of 23:05.83 to finish in 25th place overall. She took nearly five seconds off her previous PR run at Nebraska on Sept. 21.

Lindsey Bruns was second for the Mavs and 31st overall with a time of 23:29.80. The freshman has run in the top three for UNO in all four races this season.

Katarina Zarudnaya, in just her second event of the year, was third for UNO and 41st overall in a time of 24:06.32, followed by Ashley Kildow who was just four seconds and two places back at 24:10.38.

MiKayla Peck completed the scoring for the Mavericks, running fifth and 44th overall in a time of 24:13.08.

Kristen Carmichael (24:13.69/45), Kayla Fenske (24:21.61/49), Catherine Davison (24:32.26/51), Jackie Mezick (25:58.59/55), Avery Schmidt (26:08.19/57) and Brittany Phillips (27:20.85/61) also competed for UNO.

Following a week off, the Mavericks are scheduled to compete in two meets on Oct. 19: the Tim Young Dakota Days Challenge at South Dakota; and the Tori Neubauer Invitational at Wisconsin-LaCrosse.
