Mavericks Announce Two Signees

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha women's basketball program has signed two high school seniors to National Letters of Intent.
Remy Davenport - a 5-8 guard from Blue Springs, Mo. - and Annie Penquite - a 5-10 guard from Des Moines, Iowa - will join the Maverick program next season as freshmen.
Davenport is a sharp-shooting guard, who as a freshman at Blue Springs South High School broke the school-record for 3-pointers in a season with 60. Last year as a junior, Davenport averaged 11.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game and was a North Kansas City All-Tournament Team selection the past two seasons.
Penquite is coming off an Iowa Class 5-A state championship last year as a junior at Southeast Polk High School. Penquite averaged 9.0 points and 4.9 rebounds per game while leading her team with 39 3-point field goals. Penquite hit 85.7 percent (36-of-42) from the free throw line last season. She possesses a strong all-around game and defensive presence.
"We are very excited for the signing of two future Mavericks for the 2014 class," Interim Head Coach Brittany Lange said. "Remy Davenport and Annie Penquite are outstanding student-athletes who will contribute a great deal to our program and bring a mature, composed style of play to our perimeter. They both come from two of the top AAU programs in the country and understand what it takes to compete against top competition."

Entering her senior season at Blue Springs South High School in Missouri...as a junior in 2012-13, averaged 11.4 points per game, 2.8 rebounds per game and 1.6 steals per game ...was a North Kansas City All-Tournament Team selection as a junior and sophomore...as a freshman, set a school record with 60 3-pointers made in a season and tied the school record with six 3-pointers in a game...was named all-conference, all-district honorable mention and all-area second team...played for MoKan Eclipse, earning all-tournament honors at the USJN Mountain Madness Tournament in 2011 and 2012...was a U.S. Jr. Olympics Skills Competition national finalist.

Annie Penquite, Fr., G, 5-10, Des Moines, Iowa (Southeast Polk)
Will be a senior captain at Southeast Polk High School in Des Moines, Iowa this winter...led Southeast Polk to the Iowa Class 5-A state title and a 20-5 overall record as a junior in 2012-13, scoring 14 points in the championship game and earning all-tournament team honors...averaged 9.0 points and 4.9 rebounds per game while leading her team with 39 3-point field goals and shooting 34.5 percent from 3-point range...also shot a team-high 85.7 percent (36-of-42) from the free throw line...played for All Iowa Attack.
