Massa Named NCHC Goaltender of Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Omaha goaltender Ryan Massa was named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Bauer goaltender of the week on Monday.
Massa backstopped both wins by the Mavericks last weekend as they knocked off then No. 8 Miami, 6-3 and 3-1. The native of Littleton, Colo. made 29 saves and allowed just one even-strength goal in Friday's series opener. The next night, he allowed just one powerplay goal on 26 shots as the Mavericks earned their second series sweep of the year.
Massa has won his last five starts, allowing only 10 goals and just three even-strength goals. He has posted a 1.99 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage in that time. At 5-2-0 this season, his winning percentage of .714 ranks second-best in the NCHC.
Massa joins three other Mavericks who have already won player of the week honors. Josh Archibald was named offensive player of the week, and Jake Guentzel was named rookie of the week following the Mavs' first sweep of the season at Denver on Nov. 1-2. Dominic Zombo also earned offensive player of the week following UNO's series with North Dakota on Nov. 9-10.
The Mavericks are off this week before returning to action at Colorado College on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-7.
