Mavs Set For Back-To-Back Home Games

The Omaha women's basketball team will play host to Air Force and Eureka on back-to-back nights this week. On Wednesday the Mavs play Air Force at 7 p.m. at the Sapp Fieldhouse. Then on Thursday Omaha hosts Eureka at 7 p.m. UNO last played at home on Nov. 23, and the Mavs are 3-0 at the Sapp Fieldhouse so far this season. Both games will air live on 1180 Zone 2. The Teams
The Mavericks are 3-5 entering this week's games. Omaha has won all three of its home games and has dropped all five of its road games so far this season. The Mavs are averaging 71.6 points per game this season to rank fourth among Summit League teams. Through eight games last year, UNO was scoring 63.4 points per game. UNO is first in the conference in opponents' field goal percentage (34.8) and opponents' 3-point percentage (26.8). The Mavs are led by Ericka House's 17.1 points per game. Felicia Anderson contributes 10.8 points per game off the bench. Mikaela Shaw averages 9.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.
Air Force (1-6) is led by Jimi Blagowsky's 12.3 points per game. Cherae Medina adds 11.7 ppg and a team-high 4.5 assists per game. The Falcons are scoring 56.1 points per game and allowing 73.0. Air Force is 0-3 in road games this season. Air Force's lone win came at home on Dec. 6 against North Dakota State, 82-63. Among their six losses, the Falcons have fallen to then-No. 12 North Carolina, Wichita State and SIUE. Air Force also fell at home to Northern Colorado, 71-60, on Nov. 12.
Eureka (4-1) is an NCAA Division III member of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Located in Eureka, Ill., Eureka has not played since Dec. 4, a 74-52 win over MacMurray to put them at 1-0 in league play. Kelsey Shoemake leads the Red Devils with 16.0 ppg and 11.3 rpg. Caty Eeten adds 15.4 ppg and 8.2 rpg. The Red Devils are averaging 9.8 steals per game and 4.6 blocked shots per game.
Series History
The Mavericks are 2-2 all-time against Air Force, but all four games were played in the Mavericks' Division II days. The last meeting was Nov. 29, 1991 with UNO taking an 81-63 win at the Grand Canyon Classic in Phoenix, Ariz. UNO has never played Eureka.

• Mikaela Shaw ranks fourth in the conference in rebounding with 8.1 boards per game. The freshman from Deweese, Neb., adds 9.4 points and 3.8 assists per game as well.
• Freshman guard Madi Robson averages 4.9 assists per game to rank second in the league. Her assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.4 ranks fourth.
• Taijhe Kelly leads the league with 2.6 blocked shots per game. Already ranking second at UNO in career blocked shots with 138, Kelly is now tied for 13th in career offensive rebounds with 130. The junior center is 12 offensive rebounds away from the top 10.
• Junior transfer Felicia Anderson matched her career high with 20 points last Saturday. She has come off the bench every game and is second among active Mavericks in scoring at 10.8 ppg. Her 37.1-percent shooting from 3-point range leads the team, and she is second in the conference with 2.9 treys per game, behind her teammate House.

GREELEY, Colo. - The Omaha women's basketball team surrendered a late lead and Northern Colorado came back for a 78-73 win over the Mavericks at the Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Mavericks now sit at 3-5 on the season. All five losses have come on the road. Felicia Anderson matched her career high with 20 points. She hit 7-of-14 from the floor and 6-of-12 from 3-point range. Ericka House had 18 points, while Mikaela Shaw had nine points and 11 rebounds. Omaha took a 27-24 lead on an Anderson 3-pointer with 5:17 left before halftime. The Mavs held the lead – by as many as seven points – until Northern Colorado rallied to tie the game 57-57 with 7:51 left. The Mavs eventually fell down 76-73 with 23 seconds left and had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but House's 3-pointer from the wing with five seconds left was off the mark, and the Bears clinched the win with two free throws.
Kelly is a Block Machine
Junior center Taijhe Kelly is climbing her way up the career blocked shots chart at UNO. Kelly has 138 career blocks to rank second in school history. The school-record holder is Mary Henke-Anderson with 291 from 1979-83. Kelly swatted 74 shots in 2012-13, the third-highest single-season total in Maverick history. Only Henke-Anderson has had more blocked shots in a season (86 in 1980-81 and 75 in 1979-80). Kelly was first in The Summit League last season with her 2.6 blocks per game. Her 51 blocked shots in conference play were 26 more than the next closest competitor.
