OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's basketball team cruised to its sixth win of the season Tuesday night, defeating Waldorf College 100-66 at Ralston Arena. The Mavericks improve to 6-3 (0-0 Summit League), while Waldorf remains 3-2 (0-0 MCAC) as the contest counts as an exhibition game for the Warriors.

UNO was paced offensively by junior guard CJ Carter, who led the Mavericks with 15 points and shot 6-of-8 from the floor. Sophomore guard Devin Patterson put up 14 points of his own and shot a perfect 3-3 from beyond the arc, while senior guard Alex Phillips matched Patterson with three 3-pointers to finish with a season-high 11 points and a game-best six assists. Sophomore guard Marcus Tyus rounded out the Mavs' double-figure scorers with 10 points.

Junior forward Mike Rostampour led Omaha on the glass, pulling down eight rebounds, while senior guard Caleb Steffensmeier tied Phillips with a game-leading six helpers.

Waldorf was led by Jordan Nelson, who led all scorers with a game-high 17 points. Teddy Gibson and Trey Scott added 11 points apiece to help the Warriors' effort. Waldorf shot 44 percent (24-of-55) from the field, but only 24 percent (4-of-17) from downtown.

The Mavericks tied a season high in 3-pointers made with 12, surpassing their previous mark of 11 at Drake on Nov. 23. Their 52 percent (12-of-23) showing from long range, as well as their 55 percent (38-of-69) clip from the floor, also marked season bests.

Omaha opened to a 9-2 lead three minutes in with the help of a Tyus dunk and a Patterson layup. A 14-2 scoring stretch pushed it to 20-4 at 12:07, punctuated by back-to-back threes from Carter and Tyus. Karhoff doubled the tally at 30-15, and UNO took a 20-point advantage on a Tyus dunk, which also made him the first scorer in double figures. Consecutive buckets from Hagerbaumer pushed it to 49-25, and a closing trey knocked down by Phillips capped the half with the Mavericks up 52-27.

UNO started the second half by hitting 10 of their first 13 shots. With 13:45 left in the game, Phillips knocked down his third trey to spark a 10-0 UNO run that made it 79-42. Freshman guard Jalen Bradley poured in the Mavericks' 10th three of the night, pushing it to 84-49. UNO's 11th and 12th 3-pointers, compliments of Bradley and Steffensmeier in the closing minutes of the game, gave Omaha a final score of 100-66, its second time hitting the century mark this season.

Omaha returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 7, traveling to Central Arkansas. Tipoff is set for Noon at the Farris Center in Conway, Ark., and the game will be broadcast live on 1620 AM with Gary Sharp on the call.
