USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll
OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha hockey team comes in 16th this week in the latest top 20 Division I college hockey poll put out by the website USCHO.com. The Mavs received votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, the first time they haven't been ranked in that poll's top 15 since Nov. 26.
The Mavericks were 15th in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll last week while they were 14th in the USCHO.com poll. UNO had been ranked in both polls for 11 straight weeks.
Quinnipiac makes its first-ever appearance at number one in both polls. The Bobcats own a national season-best 21-game unbeaten streak. Former No. 1 Minnesota comes in second in both polls while Miami, Boston College and New Hampshire are ranked 3-4-5 in both polls.
The other WCHA teams appearing the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine top-15 poll include North Dakota (7), St. Cloud State (8), Minnesota State (10) and Denver (11). North Dakota is also seventh in the USCHO.com top-20 poll while St. Cloud State (8), Minnesota State (9), Denver (11) and Wisconsin (18) also are ranked.
The Mavericks were swept for just the second time this season, and for the first time at home, last weekend, losing to North Dakota, 2-1 and 5-2. UNO is now 16-12-2 overall and 12-8-2 in the WCHA, putting it in a tie with Minnesota for third place, five points back of league-leading St. Cloud State.
The Mavs visit Alaska Anchorage for games on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 15 and 16. Game time is 10:07 p.m. CT each night.
