Elsasser Picks Up Second Summit League Pitching Ho

OMAHA, Neb. - Dana Elsasser was named Summit League Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced on Monday.
Elsasser contributed in all four of the Mavericks' wins at the Jackson State Tournament by posting a 2-0 record in her two starts and earning saves in the other two games. The right-handed hurler allowed no earned runs with two complete games and one shutout. She allowed 10 hits and just one unearned run total in 15.0 innings pitched with two walks and 12 strikeouts, while limiting opponents to a .204 batting average.
In a 5-0 win over host Jackson State, the junior went seven innings and surrendered just three hits with six strikeouts and no walks. Also on Saturday, she pitched 1.2 innings of one-hit softball in relief for her first save of the season in a 6-5 win over Evansville. In the win over Evansville on Sunday, Elsasser went six innings, fanning two batters in the 9-1 victory. She also came on in relief to close out a 3-2 win over the Purple Aces for her second save of the season.
The award is the sixth career weekly conference pitching award for the Hershey, Neb., native.
Kansas City's Liz Broyles earned the Player of the Week honor with a .667 batting average, five RBIs, three runs scored, two doubles and two triples.
