Mavs Host Western Illinois on Pink Night

UNO is back at home this week to host Western Illinois on “Pink Night” on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Sapp Fieldhouse. The Mavs conclude the week on Saturday at 1 p.m. against IUPUI. The Mavs will be looking to avenge losses to both teams stemming from a road trip in early January. Links to live webcasts and statistics will be available at OMavs.com.
For Thursday's game, fans are encouraged to wear pink to show their support for breast cancer research and education. Free hot dogs will be available for all fans on Thursday, and $10 T-shirts will be for sale at the front entrance. There will also be $5 raffle tickets at the front entrance for a chance to win an autographed ball. Also, at both Thursday's and Saturday's games fans can bring canned food items to donate as part of The Summit League “Food Fight” contest to see which school can collect the most canned food.
The Teams
Omaha (15-7, 5-5) is in fourth place in The Summit League standings with six games remaining. The Mavericks have been tough at home with a 10-3 record overall and 3-1 record in conference games.
Western Illinois (10-12, 3-6) is in eighth place in The Summit League with one fewer conference game played than the Mavericks. Western Illinois is 3-9 on the road this season.
IUPUI (13-9, 6-3) is in second place in The Summit League with one fewer conference game played than Omaha. IUPUI is 4-6 on the road this year with a 3-2 record in conference road games.
Series History
Western Illinois holds a 2-1 edge over the Mavs after their 71-44 triumph in Macomb, Ill., on Jan. 12. That still stands as the Mavs' biggest defeat this season. The Mavs played a home and home series with Western Illinois last year, with each team winning on the other's home court.
UNO will be meeting IUPUI for the second time. IUPUI won the lone meeting, 60-49, on Jan. 10 in Indianapolis.
Last Time Out
Last Saturday, UNO rallied from a 12-point second-half deficit for a 67-63 comeback win at Oakland to sweep the Golden Grizzlies this season. The Mavs snapped a four-game road skid in conference games with the win and improved to 15-7 this season, matching last season's win total. With one more win, the Mavericks will have achieved the most wins in a season since 2007-08. Paige Frauendorfer led four Mavs in double figures and two with double-doubles with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Kelly added a season-best 10 points to go with 12 rebounds and five blocked shots for her first double-double of the season. Nash had 13 points, five assists and four steals. Ericka House hit 4-of-9 from 3-point range to finish with 12 points.

The Leathernecks like to shoot the long ball, averaging 23.8 3-point attempts per game, most in The Summit League. They hit an average of 7.8 triples per game, also most in the conference.

• The Jaguars are led by Kerah Nelson's 13.3 points per game and 5.8 rebounds per game and DeAirra Goss's 12.8 ppg. Katie Comello adds 9.4 ppg. The Jaguars lead the conference in offensive rebounds (15.5 per game) and steals per game (10.5). Their high-pressure defense also forces opponents into 27.4 percent from 3-point range, tops in the conference.
