The Omaha women's basketball team hosts IUPUI on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Mavs, who have won two straight Summit League games, will be looking to avenge a 60-49 loss to the Jaguars on Jan. 10 in Indianapolis. Fans are encouraged to bring canned food items to donate as part of The Summit League “Food Fight” contest to see which school can collect the most canned food. Saturday's game will be the last chance to see the Mavs at home before the final weekend of the season. UNO has 11 days off before returning to action on Feb. 21 at Summit League leader South Dakota State.
The Teams
Omaha (16-7, 6-5) is in fourth place in The Summit League standings with five games remaining. The Mavericks have been tough at home with a 11-3 record overall and 4-1 record in conference games. The Mavs' 16 wins are the most since the 2007-08 season.
IUPUI (13-9, 6-3) is in second place in The Summit League with one fewer conference game played than Omaha. IUPUI is 4-6 on the road this year with a 3-2 record in conference road games.
Series History
UNO will be meeting IUPUI for the second time. IUPUI won the lone meeting, 60-49, on Jan. 10 in Indianapolis. The Mavs got off to a slow start and trailed by as many as 12 midway through the first half, but they rallied and took a six-point lead, 41-35, with 14:57 left in the game. But IUPUI outscored the Mavs 25-8 the rest of the game, as the Mavs hit just four field goals the rest of the way and couldn't score in the final 4:23. Paige Frauendorfer led the Mavs with 11 points despite playing only 24 minutes because of foul trouble. Casse Vaughn added nine points and six rebounds. Despite turning the ball over often early on against the Jaguars' pressing defense, the Mavs finished with just 15 turnovers, the fewest IUPUI has forced all season. The Jaguars came in forcing 24.7 turnovers per game.

Paige Frauendorfer had a game-high 23 points, and Taijhe Kelly had 10 points, 13 rebounds and tied the school record with seven blocked shots, and the UNO women's basketball team beat Western Illinois, 63-55, Thursday night at the Sapp Fieldhouse before 402 fans on “Pink Night.” The Mavericks improved to 16-7 overall and 6-5 in Summit League play while avenging a 27-point loss to the Leathernecks - their worst of the season - back on Jan. 12 in Macomb. Kelly's double-double was her second straight and she is averaging 13.3 rebounds over her last three games. Her seven blocked shots matched the school record held by Laura Anderson (1985) and Ashley Nelson (2010). Frauendorfer went 10-of-11 from the free throw line to account for nearly half of her 23 points. Ericka House added 14 points and four rebounds, and Carolyn Blair-Mobley had 11 points, seven rebounds and four steals.

Kelly swatted 43 shots as a freshman and she has blocked 49 shots this season, the sixth-highest single-season total in school history, giving her 92 career blocks to rank fourth in school history. Mary Henke Anderson is the school-record holder with 291 career blocks, an average of 72.8 per season. Kelly tied the school single-game record with seven blocked shots against Western Illinois on Feb. 7.
